“The guy told me it was the better one.”
Welcome back to another episode of our weekly Android podcast, Attack of the Androids. Mat Lee here joined by Eric Finkenbiner and Richard Hay. We also have a special guest to talk about what it’s like for a noobie to get their first Android device. It’s my mother! Join us for episode 93 as we talk about some Defcon presentations, the MotoX, the new Nexus 7, Cyanogenmod Secure SMS, and my mom’s first Android phone. Not to mention this week’s app picks and so much more. Thanks for checking out the show!
Richard Hay wrote a cool piece about the Restore the Fourth protest rally in San Francisco. Check it out here on AND.
I had a great time at Defcon. Will Smith was there just long enough to get a shirt.
If you want to see some pictures from my Defcon 21 trip, check them out here on my Google+. I took them all with the Galaxy Nexus. So that’s Android related.
I saw an amazing talk by Eric Fulton and 26-year-old Montana state legislator Daniel Zolnikov entitled, “The Politics of Privacy and Technology: Fighting an Uphill Battle. Check out the articles on Mashable and The Blaze about Montana State Rep. Daniel Z
There was another talk by Craig Young entitled, “Android WebLogin: Gogle’s Skeleton Key that got a couple of articles written about it. I didn’t have time to catch the talk, but you can read about it here on ZDnet and PC World.
Is anyone excited about the MotoX? I’m kind of down with this device, we’ll see how it actually works in the real world once we get our hands on it. Geek has an article about it here. Android Police has an article about which carriers will offer the MotoX with an unlocked bootloader.
Richard gives us a quick review about his new Nexus 7.
Cyanogenmod Secure SMS is in development, with Moxie Marlinspike. If you are using Text Secure as we all should be, you will know who Moxie is. This is going to be awesome.
Let’s welcome my mother to the show. We’re going to give her a quick rundown of how to use her first Android phone. She ended up with the Samsung Galaxy S3, because it was free.
AotA app picks for episode 93
