“You bought a thousand dollar web browser?”
Here it is, episode 84 of our weekly Android podcast, AotA. Thanks for checking out our show, may I remind you to subscribe to us in iTunes as well as YouTube. That’s where you can watch reruns of our weekly hangout on air. Mat Lee here with Eric Finkenbiner, Jeremy Lesniak, and Nick Carroll tossing around the latest Android news, beefs and bravo in the Android world. If you want to interact with the show, definitely stop by our Google+ community and hang out.
Let’s welcome Nick Carroll to the show. He’s going to be hanging out with us for a while, until he gets sick of Eric and myself, just like everyone else did. Jeremy is also back with us. The last episode Jeremy was on was number 47. It’s great to have you back man.
In other news, Comic Sans is taking over, and Jeremy said it could.
Jeremy got an OUYA, and I’m just going to let you listen to the episode to hear what he thinks about it. It’s gold. I’m also going to say that I’m still kind of excited, but Jeremy did burst my bubble a bit. Of course it is still early, so time will tell.
Last episode Eric mentioned how he sold his Transformer Prime, and bought something else. He bought a Chromebook Pixel. We then proceed to make fun of him endlessly. You can probably just stop listening at this point. Of course I kid. But seriously, what can you think of to spend a grand on, other than a pixel? Drop us a comment.
Jeremy is a big fan of the Pebble. He wrote about it for Tech Page One. You should go read it. After hearing Jeremy talk about this, I kind of want one.
Did you hear about Vine going down for a few? It was because this kid took apart the Vine for Android apk and removing the time check, allowing him to upload a full length Rick Roll. Brilliant. Personally, I don’t see the point of Vine. It’s just helping to further shrink attention spans. Meh, I’m bored with this… SQUIRREL!
If you have the Toro (Verizon) Galaxy Nexus, you might have noticed CM 10.1 RC 3 was released, quickly followed by RC 4. Apparently there was a math bug somewhere that was messing up data usage calculation. I’ve read on XDA that 4 is still showing up wrong for some people, but who knows. Mine seems ok, then again, I went from 2 to 4, so that might be why.
Ant Pruitt asks in the Google+ community, Why not have a “nexus” version on Verizon if THIS is happening? Why isn’t Google stepping in and saying “here’s your Verizon version”? If it’s a Google device, shouldn’t Google be able to provide hardware to work with carriers like VZW? The HTC one is now going there, so why not a nexus device be a ‘world’ phone?
In Android gaming news, the Wikipad is coming out June 11th, and it’s $249. Do you want one? I kind of do, then again I’m good gaming on my Nexus 10.
