AotA 78: Chat Head

“This is for people who don’t do anything useful with their phone.”

Hello and welcome to another episode of our weekly Android show, Attack of the Androids. Mat Lee here joined by Eric Finkenbiner and Shane Brady. We also have Ryan Moore and Tom Gray from Android Coliseum to join us. I was recently on one of their Friday night hangouts, number 24 to be exact, talking about Android with them. Check it out and as usual, interact with us on the main social networks. On tonight’s episode we discuss Facebook Home, Google Glass specs, the Asus AIO, Jawbone doing an Ingress promotion, some OUYA news, and a discussion on which new device to get. All this plus our app picks for episode 78 of AotA. Thanks for joining us!

The guys from Android Coliseum have a cool database section on their site. Very cool, especially if you are Canadian.

Eric has installed Facebook Home on his Nexus 4. All hacked and side loaded like a boss!  Listen to the show and find out what he thinks.

If you got the Facebook Messenger and Facebook app updates, you will have seen Facebook Faces pop up on your device. It’s weird at first, and I don’t quite know how to feel about it.

What’s your social network of choice? Just curious.

Finally, some Google Glass specs. Check it out here. Robert Scoble released a first look of his Google Glass. It’s kind of interesting hearing someone talk about it who actually has it on their face. There is a point where they mention the augmented reality aspect isn’t really there. That’s why I’ll wait for revision two or three.

The Asus AIO is finally available. It’s pretty cool, but not for $1,300. I just say that because I’m a starving artist. Android Police has an article about it here.

Jawbone and Ingress partnering in a promotion? Does anyone think this is cool?

OUYA isn’t as perfect as you would hope. This demonstrates it’s not as easy as you might think to go from nothing to finished product in a short time frame. For the internet, it’s never short enough though. If you are a backer, you should receive your OUYA by the end of may. Here’s another article on Android Authority about benchmarking the OUYA. Not that impressive, or so they say.

HTC One, Samsung Galaxy S4, or the Nexus 5? Which one do you wait for? Listen and see what we’re all into. I’m going to need a new device soon, seems like I’m leaning towards the One, but we’ll see.
