“I don’t swype anyway.”
Hello and welcome to another fun filled informative episode of our weekly Android podcast, Attack of the Androids. Mat Lee here with some show notes and links for episode 58. This time around on the show I’m joined by Joey Kelley, Shane Brady, and Eric Finkenbiner. On tonight’s podcast we discuss Google’s new Nexus announcements, Android 4.2 Jellybean, Photosphere, Apple VS Samsung, and a couple of great new games coming to Android. All this plus our app picks for episode 58 of Attack of the Androids. Thanks for listening!
We start the show off talking about Google’s Nexus announcements. Even though the event was cancelled due to storms, they still had some amazing stuff for everyone.
Among the things announced was a new flavor of Jellybean, Android 4.2. XDA has a great rundown of what not to miss here.
Photosphere was a pretty interesting announcement. Check out the video here.
Shane mentions the Google Now cards update actually came with the Google Search app update. So if you are on Jellybean and don’t have the new Google Now cards, make sure you update the Google Search app.
Here’s a link to an article on The Verge about the new Google Nexus device prices.
I want a Nexus 10. Just saying.
Is anyone intrigued by magazines on tablets? Let’s have a discussion. Drop us a comment below.
Daydream sounds a lot better than just a plain old screensaver, assuming it’s on a doc. It then becomes another signal of information. You know, because we need more of that! Also, widgets are key. But are lockscreen widgets and homescreens getting a bit out of control?
Let’s play better or worse. The latest Beyondpod update is worse. Please put the clear episode image cache setting back. Thank you. Either that or fix the jumbled artwork problem for episode art.
Eric gives us an update on the Apple VS Samsung patent battle. Because everyone is really interested in hearing about patents. But this is kind of good for the Samsung side.
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City is finally coming to mobile. Can you believe it’s been ten years?
Shadowgate has a Kickstarter. If you remember Shadowgate, you should go support this.
AotA App Picks for episode 58

Eric gives us a quick Nexus Q update. He went from zero Q’s to two Q’s. See how that works?
If you want to check out some of the hip hop I’ve been working on, you can find it free here on my music page, or on my SoundCloud. There’s a new track from Escape Goats just for zombies and Halloween. Check it out!
